The Lync Server Front-End service terminated with service-specific error %%-2146762487

I installed a fresh copy of Lync Server 2010 Standard and got all the way through the install without a problem.....but none of the services would start. I was getting this error:

The Lync Server Front-End service terminated with service-specific error %%-2146762487.
Warning: Cannot start service RTCPDPCORE on computer **************.
This problem in my situation was because I was using an internal certificate authority. My certificate was just fine and was correctly applied to the server, but I forgot to import my internal CA chain into the server as a trusted root certification authority. As soon as I did this the services started right up.

If you're running a server 2003 Certificate Authority, you can go to the servers web interface. Usually this is http://server/certsrv -- From there, you should see an option to download the Certificate Chain. After you get this file downloaded you need to install it into your Trusted Root Certification Authorities Store, by right clicking and selecting "Install." Sometimes you need to "Show Physical Stores" and manually place it in that location if it doesnt automatically do it for you when you're using Windows 7. Also, if you are using Windows 7 and you are also using Windows 2003 CA, you'll notice you cant browse to the URL I mentioned above. There is a way around this but its more complicated than just using an XP machine or a 2003 machine to get that cert chain. Make sense?
